What does an Optometrist do?

  • They perform a comprehensive eye exam.
  • Assess an individual’s vision and provide prescription for glasses or contact lens or low vision aids or refer to other health professionals for appropriate action.
  • Diagnose, treat and manage eye injuries.
  • Detect and manage ocular disease and general health problems such as high Blood Pressure and Diabetes.
  • Provide Rehabilitation services to some eye conditions through vision therapy.
  • Teaching and Training.
